LRT SYSTEM for   Thane proposed by R A Rajeev..( Dainik Jagran reporter Anamika More reports) For the past four months, TMC Commissioner RA Rajeev and his team have been weighing the pros and cons of introducing the tram in the congested city. Surprisingly, the former seems to have outweighed the latter. Mass urban transportation needs in the western countries gave rise to rail and road based systems in the earlier phase. While the automobile emerged as the dominant mode in the later half of twentieth century.   Development countries such as India are struggling to find suitable solutions to for their urban transportation needs of mega cities.   Except the prime cities of Mumbai and Kolkata no other city in India has a well-developed rail based mass transportation service that can cater to the needs of a large number of commuters. In spite of the availability of suburban train services in Mumbai and Kolkata, transportation is inadequate compared to the actual demand. Even in the
