Kudos Mr Rajeev - Commissioner of Thane

SAKET PARISAR ALM

May 25, 2011

Dear All,

Municipal Commissioner of Thane Mr. R A Rajeev completed one year of his tenure.
Thee post of a Commissioner is the most powerful position in any Corporation.
Hee controls the bureaucracy and shapes the fate of the city.
Thane had the good fortune of having Mr T Chandrashekhar as our Commissioner in 1999.
He changed the ' chehra mohra' of Thane and gave the city a modern look. Roads were widened, the drainange system upgraded, gutters constructed and foot paths built.
Itt was during Chandrashekhar's tenure that Thane won the Best City of the Nation award.
Postt Him, Thane city has seen a steady decline. His successors Bakshi, Sethi and Jantre could not stem the rot. It was on this background that Mr Rajeev took charge of the TMC last year.
Softt spoken, suave but strict - would be the best way to describe Mr Rajeev. A no nonsense man, he first understood and established his hold on the bureaucracy. Babu's and Corporators started fearing him out of respect.
Forr them, Rajeev was a man who could not be manipulated. And then began action.
First the Cycle drive to reach out to the common man and understand his problems and priorities in Thane city.
On taking charge- action was initiated against illegal hawking, and in a time bound schedule the areas of Station, Gokhale Rd and Teen Petrol pump were freed of hawkers, giving much respite to the common man.
Action was taken against garagewalas illegally encroaching the roads in Thane. Developmental programs were speeded up and Thane is now once again changing for the better.
Saketians had the privilege of having Mr Rajeev as the Chief Guest for the inauguration of the Children's Park.

His vision of a 'Green Corridor' for Thane is really inspiring.
He showed that he is man true of his words when he sanctioned the Green Spot project opp. to Bldg no A4 to A6.

Well done Mr Rajeev and wishing you all the best and our stinted support for the future. F

For Saket Parisar ALM,
