Letter to Municipal Commissioner regarding starting of Water Tourism in Thane

ALERT CITIZENS FORUM OF INDIA A7/303, Saket CHSL, Saket Marg, Thane (W) 400601. June 4, 2016 The Hon. Municipal Commissioner, Thane Municipal Corporation, Thane. Sub: Starting of Water Tourism in Thane from Chendani to Balkum and Kalher areas. Dear Sir, Thane creek has lots of mangroves along its coastline. As of now, these mangroves are dying due to encroachment. The creek line is also polluted with people disposing garbage and other waste material in the water. To revive the creek area and make it clean and maintain it properly, we suggest that the TMC should start Water Tourism on the stretch starting from Chendani Koliwada onwards to Balkum, Kolshet and Kalher areas. These areas can be developed as mini Chowpatty's and a Boat Club started with boating as a main attraction. Once this activity stabilizes, one can also think of starting Water Transport in these areas to decongest the traffic. It will also be helpful in starting patrolling...

Dear Saketians, Our Saket Parivartan Panel won the Saket elections with a thumping majority winning 18 of the 19 seats. All of you reposed tremendous faith in our team. For me, it was a vindication, after the tremendous negative and false propaganda against me in the last 2009 elections. We started our tenure with one of our members suggesting that we will rotate office bearers every year.Though it meant disaster and there is no such provision in the byelaws, I acceded to the suggestion to keep the team spirit intact. We had a lot of things to set right - the old committee people had not properly handed over charge to us, the maintenance had to be reviewed in face of the heavy losses which the society was incurring every year, beefing up the security was another challenge, the transport operations needed a review, getting OC from the TMC - one of our major poll planks, and last but not the least, the society badly needed repairs.
