The Hon. Municipal Commissioner,
Thane Municipal Corporation,
Thane.
Sub: Starting of Water Tourism in Thane from Chendani to Balkum and Kalher areas.
Dear Sir,
Thane creek has lots of mangroves along its coastline.
As of now, these mangroves are dying due to encroachment. The creek line is also polluted with people disposing garbage and other waste material in the water.
To revive the creek area and make it clean and maintain it properly, we suggest that the TMC should start Water Tourism on the stretch starting from Chendani Koliwada onwards to Balkum, Kolshet and Kalher areas.
These areas can be developed as mini Chowpatty's and a Boat Club started with boating as a main attraction.
Once this activity stabilizes, one can also think of starting Water Transport in these areas to decongest the traffic.
It will also be helpful in starting patrolling of the area, prevent destruction of mangroves, clean up the creek water and stop people from throwing garbage, plastic and other waste material and polluting the area.
Sir, you are a dynamic officer with a vision. We trust that you will give a thought to our suggestion.
Regards,
