Parivartan - The Dream is over and dead..
Remember Mikhail Gorbachev ? The last President of the Soviet Union? The man who opened up the Soviet Union to the world? The man who introduced 'Perestroika' meaning change in the Soviet Union?
And that 'Perestroika' - change consumed Mikhail Gorbachev.
When I look back at the events in Saket over the past 2 years, I feel that I myself are akin to Gorbachev - I introduced the concept of Parivartan - change in Saket and the same has consumed me.
Last year, on May 29, 2016, I had carried a post called Saket Parivartan - the Dream gone sour.
This is a sequel to that post : Parivartan - the dream is over.
Yes, the Parivartan dream is over. The past two years have been a story of back stabbing, people ganging up against one person, groupism gaining over talent and schemers running the roost in Saket - people with little or no knowledge of running society affairs are in positions of power - not because of people wanting them , but by staging palace coup.
For the past 2 years, byelaws and provisions of the MCS Act have gone for a toss. Rules are hardly followed - if at all, that too out of compulsion.
Managing Committee meetings agenda are the same cut paste jobs month after month. Minutes of the meeting are not properly written nor are they circulated when asked for. Letters received from members are treated with contempt and remain unanswered - rather, are not answered. Public opinion is trampled and the society is runs on the whims and fancies of a select coterie or group of 5-6 people.
For 2015-16, the Govt. recommended Auditor was appointed by playing a lot of politics. He was forced to sign on faulty accounts written by the new 'poster boy' of this coterie. All norms were thrown in the winds while appointing the auditor for 2016-17 - no resume or information about him was circulated, recommendation of good auditors given by experienced Managing committee members was not considered and this 'poster boy' recommended person was appointed.
The society accounts are faulty and in total mess. The new security agency appointed is third class. Office bearers are having vested interests in all works done in the society.
Total arrogance, nepotism is the way these office bearers are functioning.
They will learn their lesson very soon as they receive brickbats in their tenure.
But one thing is for sure - Saket Parivartan dream is over.
