The decision to lock gates of society buildings and the problems created for members.
1] Appeal to members: dated July 20, 2017
2] July 18, 2017
The Secretary,
Saket CHSL,
Saket Marg,
Thane (W) 400601.
Dear Sir,
I am quoting herewith 2 incidents that have happened in the society post the illegal decision to lock society buildings gates.
Incident 1:
My worst fear came true - if this is true.
On July 3, a lady from C7/701 (Mrs. Khopde) suffered heart attack.
She was to be taken to the hospital but the gates of the C7 building were locked due to your policy of locking gates.
It took the family 20 minutes to go round the C5 building and get the ailing old lady out to the ambulance.
The lady died enroute to the hospital.
Her body was taken to her hometown for cremation.
Her son had come to society office yesterday, after coming back after 13 days.
He was agitated and wanting to meet office bearers.
Nobody was there.
Who should be held responsible for the loss of critical minutes which could have saved a life - the gate or the locks or those who locked them ?
Incident 2:
Mr Ramnani who stays in C4 is a heart patient. Last month on 2 occasions he had to be rushed to hospital.
But the gates of C4 building was locked.
The family had to hurriedly take him out from the flat of Mr. Vinod Pandirkar.
Later on, they asked you to keep the gates open - which you refused.
Incident 3:
Upset with the inconvenience caused by the illegal decision taken by some 5-6 members of the Managing Committee, members of the society gheraoed you and forced you to open the gates.
Now, making it a prestige issue and ego matter, again 5-6 members unilaterally decided that they will conduct a so called survey of members asking them whether to keep gates open or locked.
The decision to do the survey was not taken in a proper Managing Committee meeting.
The survey form circulated is also asking leading questions with veiled threats to members if they opt to keep gates open.
My question is why are members subjected to this harassment?
Why are you wanting to force a decision that will unfairly favour a section of the society while inflicting pain on others?
For your information, there is a ruling by the Delhi High Court that clearly rules that building gates must be kept open during the daytime and can be closed from 11 pm to 5 am.
My request to you is please abandon these measures which only disturb members and call a general body to discuss the matter.
Regards,
Dayanand Nene

- for information..
Keeping you informed and in the loop because the Society Chairman and Secretary don't listen to or respond any suggestions given by me as ex Chairman and member of the Managing Committee and act as if they own the society.
My detailed note is being sent to you separately.

Dear Mr. Secretary,
I received a survey circular yesterday night. It was affixed to my door.
I am surprised to receive it for the following reasons:
1) The discussion about the survey took place in an informal meeting between you, Chairman, Vice Chairman, Sandhya Shastri, Salve and Prakash Bandelkar.
2) I came there but was not called.
3) A discussion between 6 people cannot be imposed on the entire Managing Committee.
4) If you wanted to do this you should have called for a regular MC meeting, put the subject in the agenda, discussed, passed a resolution, referred the subject to the General Body and then done it.
5) We had anyway decided to hold a General Body on the subject in our last, official MC meeting. Then why this hurry ?
6) This letter was also not shown to us before finalizing.
I have strong objections to the way it has been drafted and to many clauses of the letter.
7) It is a clear case of trying to influence and coerce people to agree to a preconceived decision which 6 people have taken.
8) Please understand that you cannot run the Managing Committee on the whims and fancies of 5/6 people.
There are 18 members in the committee - and some of them more experienced than many of these 5/6 people.
9) Hence, immediately stop this survey business and call for a Managing Committee meeting to decide when to hold the General Body.
You took a decision to change the security and give the contract to an unknown agency - ours is their first job - without consulting the Managing Committee or calling for tenders.
Ad hocism has become the way of functioning over the past one year.
Please stop this.

Member,
Saket Managing Committee.
Dear All,
1] Please do not fill the survey form as the survey is not decided by the committee but 4-5 people.
2] The survey is lop sided in favor of those conducting it.
3] They are trying to trap you with this survey.
4] Their intention is to close the gates.
5] If you choose Option A - they will say you have chosen not to have security.
6] If you choose Option B - they will say that you have agreed for increase in maintenance [only for your building] - intention is that you should say NO.
7] If you choose Option C or D - they are trying to divide people from different buildings.
8]if you choose Option E - this was tried in the past but did not succeed.
9] How can you choose this Option E - without knowing full details about it.
All this should be discussed in a SGM not like this.
Think and Act.
Regards,
Dayanand J. Nene
