The Editor,
Thane Vaibhav,
Thane
Sub: Thanksgiving for your support.
Dear Sir,
We had made a complaint cum representation to the DCP
[Traffic] of Thane City on November 13, 2019 regarding the new proposed traffic
arrangements which had made life miserable for the residents of Saket, Rabodi
and Balkum areas due to perrenial traffic jams caused by increased movement of
heavy vehicles in our Saket Parisar.
Your newspaper had given extensive coverage to our
representation [ photo attached]. We had taken a cutting of that news and
forwarded it to the Traffic Police.
I am very pleased to inform you that since that day, its is
now over a month and the traffic congestion has eased on Saket Road. The
movement of heavy vehicles has been stopped during peak hours – this was our
main demand – and life has become much easier for the local residents of Saket
Parisar.
Along with our follow-up of the subject, I want to thank
THANE VAIBHAV, which is Thane’s prominent newspaper for the support you have
given us.
It is said that the pen is mightier than the sword. You have
proved it. Your coverage was one of the principal reasons in waking the police
machinery and taking our complaint seriously.
You have proved that your paper just doesn’t cover only
politics but is alive to social causes also.
Thanks once again.

Dear Kale saheb,
It was one month ago that we gave you our representation regarding the extremely bad traffic conditions of Saket Road.
We - people from Saket Complex and Parisar want to thank you and your team with the bottom of our hearts for the very well regulated traffic movement on Saket Road, since our first meeting on November 13, 2019.
For the past one month, the flow has been smooth during the day especially the peak hours.
There is a little commotion at Kalwa Bridge junction but it should ease once the barricades for the pillar construction are removed.
We hope and request you to continue with the arrangements and shall keep you posted periodically.

Sub: New Traffic movement around Thane and problems faced by residents of Saket Complex, Thane
Dear Shri Kale saheb,
We understand that w.e.f. November 12, 2019, new arrangements have been made regarding movement of Traffic, as under:
1) No Light Commercial Vehicle (LCVs - like Tempo, Matador etc. having roof above 9 feet) and all Medium and Heavy Duty vehicles like : containers, tankers, trucks have been prohibited from taking left turn at MIDC Rabale Police Station for Airoli - Mulund sector and a huge iron barrier is erected over there.
2) All these vehicles will have no option but to reach *Thane Via Kalwa Creek* or Via *Mumbra to Kharigaon Naka* and then towards *Majiwada* or so.
3) So only two wheelers and four wheelers and autos would be allowed to ply from MIDC Rabale towards Airoli Bridge sector.
That will definitely help car owners to reach Airoli Toll Naka, Mulund Toll Plaza, Vikhroli (East), etc. relatively easier and faster.
But this is very bad news for residents of Rabodi, Saket and Balkum as Saket Road - Kalwa Bridge junction shall be crowded more than earlier and all heavy vehicles will now ply through our areas, especially in view of the pending repairs for Mumbra Bypass Road.
Already, the residents of these areas are facing huge problems while commuting since past 2 years, due to the traffic snarls as a result of the construction activity for the new 3rd Kalwa Bridge in that area.
A journey from Saket Complex to Chendani Koliwada which normally takes 10 minutes, nowadays takes 45 minutes.
Primarily a residential area which also has a school enroute, the area has become a hazard for residents, especially school children, ladies and senior citizens, due to the more than 5000 heavy vehicles plying on the road every day.
This new arrangements for traffic will further complicate matters for us.
We request you to kindly monitor the situation and ensure that no heavy vehicles like Containers, Company buses, trucks are allowed to ply from Balkum naka to Kalwa Bridge via Saket from 7am to 9 pm.
